AUDIOBOOK MONTH CHALLENGE!
DAY TWO: Narrator Intro
My name is Krys, and I'm a narrator... 😄💜 Aside from that, here are 10 things about me.
NARRATOR INTRO:
• I am a Filipino Artist
My mom was born in the Philippines (Cebu), and dad was first gen here in the states. I’m the middle child with 2 Brothers (Fighting for the game controllers since I was 7 or so? lol)
• Californian
No, not LA. No, not SF. The in-between. The Upside-Down? Yeah we'll go with that. Lived here all my life, except for one year we lived in Hawaii. Would I move? Ideally. Someday.
+ Cat-mom
Yeah, I have THREE and have to be convinced many times not to get another one.
• I’m a singer + songwriter
My mom was a singer and I learned and performed my first solo act when I was only 3 years old. Growing up, I was a choir and theater kid, and later became the lead singer of two metal bands, Spirit Descending, and Athens to Ashes.
• I’m a dancer!
I know how to perform Hula, Latin, Jazz. Before coming to settle in California, my mom was a performer in a troupe called Showcase Hawaii, so I got the Hula dancing from her. I learned jazz over time in school, and as far as Latin goes I'm a member of ZIN, and was learning under several fabulous Zumba instructors before 2020. Getting back to it again, so that’s super exciting! I did tap for a show and that was... an experience. Thank goodness for patient people.
• I love GAMES!
I play games of the video, tabletop, card variety. I love my game nights with friends, it's a nice way to wind down for the day and just have fun. My YouTube channel features (and will feature new) content from my gaming ventures with my good friends. I frequently play games like Destiny 2, Warframe, and the occasional COD and single player adventure RPG.
• I write books…
... when I can, and vvery sloowwly. I'm getting way better at scheduling time to get some words down! IF you haven’t, check out the sneak peek to A King’s Gambit, the Turning Series Book 2 here on my page!
• Self-Taught of All Trades…
Most of my trades are self-taught. I trained for acting in college and I've been a singer all my life, though I had to learn guttural vocals on my own. For creative writing and graphic design, I learned on the go, from peers, tutorials and a lot of practice.
• Dealing with Chronic Illness
Since we're normalizing speaking out about ourselves and personal struggles, I'm also chronically ill with Ulcerative Colitis, anxiety, depression and ptsd. I also have major back problems but that's a whole other story. I'm the only one in my family with GI disease that I know of and spent the last 6 years understanding what it means for my lifestyle, eating habits, wellness and yearly checkups.
• And Finally -
I've been doing voice over since 2015, but didn't take it all seriously until 2020. After losing my 'day job' and having to figure out where to go when I became chronically ill, I've been in a few video game mods, animation, machinima, YouTube narration, and mostly audiobooks. I absolutely adore my "tribe" I found in @Bossbabesvo, I can't say that enough, between them and my partner-in-audiocrime Daniele Lanzarotta, I don't think I'd be where I am in my narration career.
