Power/Rangers – (A Film by Joseph Kahn)

If you happened to scroll your [social media] feed this morning, you may have come across a short film named “Power/Rangers” that made a dark and dramatic face lift to one of our favorite childhood shows.

The film stars James Van Der Beek (Dawson’s Creek) and Katee Sackhoff (24, Battlestar Galactica) re-imagining the Power Rangers in a way that was visually stunning and all-around impressive. Elements in the storytelling mixed components from some of films most notable greats. It was as if they took the intensity, tragedy and fragmented scenarios from Tarentino, the dark and gritty characters from Nolan and sci-fi fanaticism of Abrams.  Add in a splash of the choreography from John Woo flicks (minus the doves) and the hardcore, nightmarish, action-packed version of our Rangers is born.

Their tale is told in just under 15 minutes.
